This is something I wipped up for my World History class. We had to do this literary work that tells future citizens of society of what we were like. What were the problems, what were the benefits, etc. I had this as a result. I hope you like it. Yes, this isn't a very positive view. I focused on this one problem in society, that's why.
A man stood alone. In front of him, a sea of people bowed
down to a great and horrifying creature. The lone wolf wore his white t-shirt
and blue jeans. He wore casually, with his favorite black hoodie and his
favorite video game weapon- the curved blade- in hand. Again did the man smirk
as he heard the creature’s pathetic ranting, his natural (yet uncommon) short,
messy, silver hair waved as the wind blew.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The image before him was like nothing he had seen before.
Vast numbers of different individuals, of different origins and appearances,
listened attentively to the creature’s words. It was as if they were an army of
mind-controlled slaves listening to their master.
The sea of people were divided by stone walls, each room
without a ceiling. The rooms had some kind of group of people trapped within,
each room classified in some way. The foul beast had no constant form. Every
time the creature comes to a different room, it changes its form. A bottle of
perfume, a suit, a car, maybe even a piece of paper that was written on, there
was nothing the creature never took form of. Only the lone man saw the beast
for what it was: the formless reincarnation of Envy and Greed.
Every single person envied when they saw an image of a
stranger with THEIR wants. They became greedy,
and unknowingly loyal to the beast, as they blindly did whatever they can to
obtain what the beast showed to them. The whole image was horrible. Everyone
was in its grasp, unable to be saved.
Nobody was spared. The people wept uncontrollably as the creature
made an illusion of the “better” things becoming unattainable to them. Even
those that the creature had once helped were harmed, as the creature now ripped
out those said individuals’ true forms. It raised them high, and it presented
their faults. It scolded them; it threw insults, laughing at what they did.
The man sighed and shook his head as he turned away from the
sight. The wooded sword was placed in its sheathe, and then was placed in a
corner. I’ll play with it late… The
lone wolf thought. Right now, I need to
get to class.
On the way to his room to change into his gi, the boy picked
up the TV remote and turned off the nuisance without turning to look what was
on and what he was going to miss. After all, it showed the same thing every
day. Why did I even want to buy this
silly thing? The boy mused.
Before you say that the beast is the government, it isn't. I just wanted you to know that before I leave you to comment. It IS, however, something else we see every day.
