When I was a little kid, I was practically a damn bastard. I never liked the teachers, and I never had friends that actually liked me. My parents always scolded me. Yeah, they weren't lenient with me as a little kid.
Then I went to public elementary high school. So many bullies there... They all fought each other for power. They knew how I was like, and one day they beat me up... Or at least, they were supposed to. As they approached me like a cat to a cornered mouse, a dog showed up. His name was Jacob.
Apparently, he knew how I was like. Despite my reputation, Jacob STILL fought them off me. Yeah, I was obviously surprised by this. "Why?" I asked.
"Because I chose to." He answered, shaking his hand a bit. "You don't leave a person to be injured."
I watched him walk off to tell a nearby staff members. At that point, I started following Jacob like I was a lord, but he was the emperor. I began to change into a nice guy. Instead of keeping on that one path when I was a kid, I jumped to focusing on the important aspects of life. Academics, ethics, etc. My grades soared into A+'s, I began to shape myself into a better person, all because of Jacob.
Then I became the victim to bullying. I was targeted after my 6th grade school year. Luckily, I escaped with minor injuries. I wasn't traumatized and became vulnerable. I was pushed to become a martial artist.
I worked hard in the school I went to. When I learned that Jacob was a black belt there, it only made me work harder. I started in 5th grade, since bullying was more brutal in high school. For 6 years, I worked my ass off.
It all paid in the end. A better person came out. A new black belt entered the academy- me. I still remember that last part of my black belt testing. A series of sparring matches, the opponents go in as soon as the current goes out. I fought Jacob as my last opponent, since we became such close friends.
Then there was Kendo. I was interested in swords, like a lot if people. So, I joined their classes for fun for a while. I joined for three years, while I was still a low-rank martial artist. However I quit because I can't keep up with everything, and my life in the martial arts had become harder and harder lately with each promotion I obtained. I chose one of two things, swords or hands. I chose hands, mainly because you can use your hands anytime. I continued my martial artist career, still working as hard as ever.
But then, Insitus Gear came out. Guess how everyone in my martial arts academy reacted?
At first, a few people left. It wasn't such a problem. However, more and more stopped their careers as martial artists. Like the majority of the world's population who got it, they were sucked into the game. It was now their lives.
I didn't go. I had all my discipline with me, and I allowed me not to buy the accursed thing. However, my curiosity got the best of me. I eventually bought it to my sensei's dismay. I never let it control my life, though. There are things in real life that you can enjoy that aren't in the virtual world.
I controlled my times in and out of the world. Finish my homework, go to martial arts class, 1 real time hour of virtual world life. That's it. If I have more time, then 2 hours.
Everything was still going for me, you know? A normal John Smith from the good ol' US of A. I'm still keeping up with my martial arts career, my academic life, my normal life, everything. Im a great friend to people... when they were in the real world. But now I'm trapped in this game, with only one way out. Then again, I am Blade Slizer. I'm one of the sharpest blades made in the greatest of forges.
